The following workshop was accepted after our
Call for Workshops:
Natural, Semi-Formal, and Formal Ontologies: Bridging the Layers, Limits,
and Lacunas (Bob Smith, Kurt Conrad, Rex Brooks)
As was done at the 7th International Protégé Conference, in Bethesda, MD, the
Ontolog Forum seeks to
provide its members with an opportunity to meet, face-to-face, to share insights and engage with others, outside of
the Ontolog Forum, on topics of mutual interest.
This year, we propose to focus, not only on formalized ontologies, but on the relationships among the natural ontologies which exist within whole systems and efforts to create informal
and formalized representations of them.
Ontolog is an open forum that focuses on informal and formal ontologies used in business. It has over 100 members, and
draws from the international community of ontologists. The Ontolog community makes extensive use of Protégé and has
contributed to a number of health-care-related ontology initiatives, both individually and as a community.
