The Protégé Training & Support Program provides opportunities for close interaction and collaboration between commercial users of Protégé and the development team. Commercial users can work directly with the development team to gain a deeper understanding of the Protégé system and to help us define our research directions and priorities.

Consulting (fee: $500/staff person/hour)

The Protégé staff is available for consultation for up to 10 guests either at Stanford in person, by phone, or by video/web conference. Topics of consultation may include (but are not limited to):

• Ontology/knowledge-base design
• Ontology/knowledge-base evaluations (premeeting ontology evaluation available for $300/staff person/hour)
• Plug-in design
• Plug-in development
• Using Protégé in applications
• Visualization and comprehension techniques for large knowledge-bases

Prioritized Development (fee: negotiable)

For a negotiated fee, an affiliate can raise the priority of major feature requests.

Prioritized Support (fee: $5,000/year)

The enhanced support category offers a number of benefits concerning support, bug fixes, and development:

• Phone support (2 hours/month, calls arranged in advance by email)
• Priority email support
• Quicker responses to questions
• Quicker fixes of simple bugs
• Higher priority assigned to more complicated bugs
• Higher priority assigned to minor feature requests

Short Courses

The short course component of the Protégé Training & Support Program provides opportunities for attendees to receive intensive training on various aspects of the Protégé system. We currently offer two short courses:

• Protégé Short Course
  An intensive 4-day comprehensive course on building ontologies, knowledge bases, and applications using Protégé (including an introduction to Protégé-OWL).
• Protégé-OWL Short Course
  An intensive 2-day introduction to developing OWL ontologies and Semantic Web applications using Protégé-OWL.

Protégé Affiliate (fee: $15,000/year)

Becoming a Protégé affiliate combines many of the benefits of consulting and prioritized support with several additional items:

• 10 hours free consulting (1/2 price - $250/hour beyond 10 hours)
• Enhanced support (see description above)
• Free admittance of one person to all sessions of the annual Protégé Conference
• Complimentary Protégé logo coffee mug and t-shirt
• Recognition in the Protégé application's About Box and in the About Us section of the Protégé Web Site
